What to Expect at Your IV Hydration Appointment

We believe informed clients are the best clients. If you’re new to IV therapy—or just want to know what you’re walking into—here’s the full, honest picture.

Is IV Therapy Safe?

Yes. IV hydration has an excellent safety record when administered by qualified medical professionals, which is exactly what every Thrive appointment involves. Every session is delivered by a licensed Registered Nurse with ACLS and BLS certification and hands-on experience in IV administration, under the oversight of our Medical Director, Dr. Jawad Trad.

Before your session, we conduct a health intake and review your medical history to ensure IV therapy is appropriate for your individual needs. Certain conditions—such as congestive heart failure, severe kidney disease, or specific medication interactions—may require physician clearance or may not be appropriate for IV therapy. We will always advise you honestly.

What Happens During Your Appointment

Health Intake & Consultation

(5–10 minutes)

Upon arrival, we will conduct a medical consultation and do a brief health assessment. You can select add-ons for your individual needs, including anti-nausea, pain relief, Vitamin C, B12, NAD+ and more.

IV Placement

(3–5 minutes)

Then settle into our professional relaxing experience. Our RN will apply a topical anesthetic for a more pain-free IV insertion.

Relax

(30–60 minutes)

Our spa locations have recliners, warming blankets, and noise-canceling headphones. Most clients bring their phone, a book, or headphones and find the session genuinely relaxing. Your RN monitors your comfort and safety throughout.

What Are the Side Effects?

IV therapy is very well-tolerated by the vast majority of clients. The most common side effects are mild and temporary:

  • Minor bruising or tenderness at the insertion site, typically fading within a day or two
  • A slight cool or flushing sensation during the infusion, which is normal
  • Rarely, mild nausea or lightheadedness, usually related to infusion speed and quickly resolved

Serious complications such as infection or allergic reaction are rare and are significantly reduced through strict sterile technique, single-use supplies, and continuous nurse monitoring throughout every session.

Who Should Not Get IV Therapy?

IV hydration is not appropriate for everyone. We advise against it—or require physician clearance first—for those with:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Severe kidney disease or renal impairment
  • Certain medication interactions

Our intake process exists to protect you, and we will always be straightforward about whether IV therapy is the right fit for your situation. If you have questions before booking, text us at 918-550-2740.

When Will You Feel the Results?

Most clients notice the difference before they even leave. The effects of a full IV infusion typically last for several days. Because nutrients are delivered directly to your cells at full absorption—bypassing the digestive system entirely—the results are more immediate and more complete than oral supplementation can provide.
